Millom Rugby Union Football Club is one of the oldest clubs in the country; established in 1873 and enjoyed a lot of success in the early years. This is reflected in the number of players that achieved county standard; not forgetting that the first Cumberland Rugby player to be selected by England was from Millom. E Knowles represented England in the season of 1895/96. Millom suspended all fixtures at the start of the second world war. But we have photographic evidence that Rugger was played by a Millom team during this period. Millom share their clubhouse and facilities with a couple of local football clubs, Haverigg United FC and Black Combe Casuals Juniors FC. The club has extended the playing area and has added a football pitch on this new piece of ground.
