William Wordsworth lived at Rydal Mount from 1813 until his death in 1850. Once visited by such famous literary names as Keats, Sir Walter Scott, Tennyson and Ralph Waldo Emerson, it is now the family home of his direct descendants containing family portraits and other personal possessions of historical interest. The extensive garden with its magnificent lake views was landscaped by Wordsworth. The garden features terraces, rare shrubs, trees and the poet's summerhouse overlooking beautiful Rydal Water.
